This web site at Coloma.com has been published continuously since 1995, and many stories have come and gone since then. Here are a few that we felt were worth keeping around, even though they are no longer current.
Floods of '97 In January of 1997, northern California was hit by heavy warm rains on top of a massive, wet snow pack. The resulting floods were devastating. We've saved this record of photographs, journals and stories. No on W In November of 1998, a measure was introduced to the El Dorado County ballot that would reduce the number of commercial user days available to whitewater rafting outfitters. This controversial measure was opposed by many in the Coloma Valley, as it would have a negative impact on one of our major businesses. Fortunately for the area's economy, the measure failed. Coloma Nessie In summer of 1999, a relative of the Loch Ness monster was reported to be living in the South Fork of the American River. See the photographs and judge for yourself. |
