South Fork of the American River

Betty Sederquist, Photographer

As a park ranger's daughter, Betty Sederquist grew up in Marshall Gold Discovery State Historic Park, and still lives here in Lotus. She has juggled several vocations over the years. After graduating from the University of California, Davis, she traveled the world before settling in Alaska, where she honed her skills as a photographer, writer and editor.

In 1979 she returned to California, where she has continued her editorial work while adding to her stock photo collection. She and her family now live in Lotus. Currently Betty is a part-time photo instructor at Cosumnes River College, El Dorado Center, in Placerville. She is also a writer. Her book in progress at the moment is a humor book on the California Gold Rush entitled Gold Fools.
