Brown Haniwa by Brian Hayes, Potter
Classic haniwa are Japanese figures made from earthenware clay and placed in a ring on ancient Japanese tombs. Originating in the mid-second century as simple cylindrical forms, haniwa evolved into more complex figural representations of houses, weapons, animals, and humans. This modern-day ceramic haniwa reflects Brian Hayes' sense of humor. [View larger: 739x1054]
