We are no longer a rustic Gold Rush town of canvas tents and lean-tos. These days you can still pitch a tent and opt for cold river showers, but there's much more. Relax in a manicured campground with flat grassy areas and enjoy running water, flushable toilets, hot showers and more.
Camping

The Coloma Lotus Valley has four great riverside campgrounds to choose from. If you are looking to stay close to the state park in the historic town of Coloma, check out The American River Resort or Coloma Resort. A short distance north on Hwy 49 just past the bridge is Ponderosa RV Resort. Looking for that campground off the beaten path? Check out Camp Lotus off Bassi Road.

Luxury Lodging
How about a special romantic stay? Consider staying at one of our fine lodging partners. About 1/3 mile south of the state park on Cold Springs road is Bella Vista B&B. Looking for your own cabin? Coloma Cottages is within easy walking distance to the state park. Head north a few miles on Hwy 49 to the Vineyard House at Hart2Hart Winery. Looking for luxury Gold Rush Ambiance? Head up the hill to Georgetown to the American River Inn built in 1853.
Many of our Whitewater companies own their own camps from rustic to upscale. They often offer riverside camping as part of your whitewater adventure. Make sure to check with them before booking your stay somewhere else.
