Plan Your Gold Country Adventure!
Spring, 2008Spring is the loveliest time to visit the Gold Country foothills. Take the time to visit the Coloma Valley's riverfront parks, go for a hike, view the wildflowers and enjoy the river. While you're here, shop for unique gifts, including original art, fine local wines and gourmet olive oils. Check our Calendar for upcoming events, from music festivals to whitewater competitions. Reserve your tickets now, as some events will sell out! Marshall Park is open every day, with historic demonstrations on Thursdays and Fridays throughout the year. You can learn to pan for gold at the museum or at the historic Frank Bekeart's Gunshop. If you are fortunate enough to be able to stay a few days in the Coloma Valley, you can treat yourself to the comfort of a bed and breakfast inn or old-fashioned hotel. See the Food and Lodging pages for options. By May, most businesses are open, but do call ahead to check hours and availability. Some hardy kayakers continue to boat all winter long, but the commercial whitewater rafting season typically runs from May to September. It's time to plan your 2008 trips and reserve the best dates for you and your group!
