A FAMILY ADVENTURE ON "GOLD MOUNTAIN" (GAM SAAN TRAIL)

Friday, June 16th 9-11am We'll hike up the recently completed Gam Saan (Gold Mountain) trail that connects with Monroe Ridge Trail in Gold Discovery State Park. Pausing in the shade on the way up gentle switchbacks, we'll learn about native plants, flowers, trees, birds, Gold Rush, and Chinese miner history. Keith Atwater will lead this easy-moderate 1.8-mile round trip hike with glimpses of the American River and mining activity. Keith is a long-time ARC member and has taught humanities, history, and religions at the high school and college levels. Well-behaved dogs on leash OK. Children ages 8+ welcome.
