Mountain Biking & Road Cycling

There are limitless trails and terrain for biking enthusiasts in the Coloma Lotus Valley. Miles of rolling hills offer seasonal views of the river, wildlife, and nature.

On a clear day, you can see the snow-capped Sierra Mountains. Whether novice or expert, young or old, the mountain biking trails in the Coloma Lotus Valley will appease all skill levels. Some offer more even beginner gradients, while others offer more challenging steep, single-tracks. Some trails are shared with hikers, dogs, horseback riders, and critters, so be aware of your surroundings.

Be sure to pack sunscreen, snacks, and plenty of water, and plan on a great day with breathtaking views!

Here are a few very popular Mountain Biking trails that are sure to please:

Cronan Ranch Trail System – 25 miles of single and double-track trails with outstanding views of the South Fork American River. Great for riders of all ability levels. Park at Pilot Hill and Hwy 49 entrance.

Magnolia Loop – 2+ mile loop. Shaded and even gradient. Great for children. Park at Magnolia parking across from Everhart Winery on Hwy 49.

Acorn Creek – The trailhead is operated and maintained by ARC. A large gravel parking accommodates all intended user groups (hikers, bikers, and equestrians.) One restroom is available at the trailhead, but there is no access to potable water. The Acorn Creek trail is a relatively short section of trail that connects to the South Fork American River Trail. 

Foresthill Divide Loop – 13-mile loop along the ridges of the Foresthill/Auburn Divide. Stunning views of both the Middle Fork American River Canyon and North Fork American River Canyon. Beginner through Advanced riders enjoy this ride. Park at the trailhead (on the right) on Foresthill Road, approximately 6 miles past the Foresthill Bridge.
