Climate Stewards of the Sierra Foothills
This September, American River Conservancy will be offering the UC Climate Stewards course. The UC Climate Stewards seeks to foster a committed corps of volunteers ready to effectively engage in transformative local solutions to promote community and ecosystem resilience in a changing climate. This ten week course will introduce you to social-emotional resilience and trauma-aware practices, climate change communication, climate science, and community resilience planning. The course will combine communication, engagement, and science curricula with guest presenters, field trips, and project-based learning to immerse you in the dynamics of your local community.
This year's course will begin on September 17th and run through November 19th and we will meet on Wednesdays from 4-6:30 PM with the option of attending in-person or via Zoom. There are 3 mandatory, in-person field trips scheduled for Sunday Sept. 28th, Sunday Oct. 26th and Sunday Nov. 9th. Course cost is $415 and this includes all field trips and the book Climate Stewardship: Taking Collective Action to Protect California (scholarships are available for those who qualify).
